I got bored and started counting.
There are 181 059 people between ages 20 and 29 in the city of Prague.
Of those 48.69% are men - 88 150.
Of those 86,3745% are Czechs = 76 139.
Of those approximately 92% are straight - 70 047.
Of those 1401 are slightly less intelligent, equally intelligent or more intelligent than I am (give or take).
If I take into account that he should probably be older and reduce this further to the 25-29 box, we are at 778 men.
Of those I probably know like a 100 and I have probably met like a 150 more, which would bring me to 528.
528 might seem like a high number, but that does not even include that he should not be a prick (we are probably down to like 50), he should not be a smoker, I guess he should not be plain ugly and he should definitely be single. In the end, there are probably 4 or 5 possible matches.
Which does not leave me with too many options:
1) find one of those 4 or 5 guys
2) I have already met the guy and I am just to ignorant to notice
3) I should become a lesbian
4) I should give up at least a few of the criteria
In the end, I am pretty sure that I will just do what I always do. Meet a guy, feel my brain melt, start ignoring all the red flags and get my heart broken:-)
For the record - I am not desperate, I am just trying to do anything but my thesis.

The Rules?
When it comes to relationships, there are few rules that are to be followed. One of them is that if you date one guy and you break up, you don´t start dating his friend. But what if you were never really officially in a relationship with the first guy, what if they are not close friends but rather acquaintances, what if... Can you break a rule without being the bitch who walks over people?
On an unrelated note - is it ok to make a relationship prejudice based on past experience with a specimen of the kind? Like if you dated let´s say a guy who liked fishing and he hurt you in the end(let´s say with a fish hook), can you make a rule of not dating fishermen? Well, of course you can do that, but is it ok? Then what do you do when you meet a cute and witty guy who asks you out, but also likes fishing?

Never ever date a foreigner unless you are sure that(in this order):
-he wants to stay a while
-he has applied for the long-term visa(he won´t have to leave after 3 months and stay out of the country and the EU for the next 3 months)
-he is worth the increased risk of you getting hurt (and the ugly comments you get from people you meet)
Skipping steps number two and three is not worth it.
She's lonely
And he says
It's for her only
That he lusts
She doesn't trust him
Nothing is true
But he will do

So I went out with M the other night. We were sitting at a table in a bar, talking about all sorts of random stuff. He has just started telling me a story when a group of three or four sits at the next table. One of them, a Czech, a guy, stops M in the middle of a sentence and starts giving him shit about how being a foreigner does not mean he is cool and how he should not be talking, but rather listening to me, to what I say. (Just to be clear, we were having a normal conversation, he was just telling a story and there was no reason to interfere. Even if there were, it still would not be any of his business, but there wasn´t.)
The comments of that guy make me so pissed that I want to leave. M goes to pay the bill by the bar. I am sitting at the table, alone for a moment. The Czech guy starts offering me drinks. I send him to hell. I leave with M.
Yes, that guy was a random jerk. Yes, I should not care about any of that. But it got me pissed and sad and depressed. I started looking at everything with scepticism and disbelief. Now I feel like I am tired and do not want to stay in a thing that I did not even define. I am not sure if it is just being sad and it will pass or if it will linger. Hmm.

The Rules?
Supposedly there are The Rules when it comes to dating. Being a weirdo, I have never really learned to obey them or to play other games in a relationship. (Maybe that is the reason why I am not in one.) But what if you start dating someone who sticks to them. Should you start behaving like these rules are the code of behaviour?
The silliest rule so far encountered is the three day rule - apparently if a guy likes a gal and they had an amazing date, he is still not supposed to call her until after 3 days. I don´t really get this need to show how much you DON´T care. And yes, I am aware that men are supposed to be the hunters and need the thrill and mystery and conquest, but it is just stupid to me. Either you like someone and want to know him/her better, see them again, or you don´t...
(And maybe this view on The Rules will result in me being a crazy cat lady.)

If in real life the only reason to be in a relationship is reason, something is wrong. If in real life you have the rare luck and find someone who loves you back, it is never enough and in the end there is always something that fucks it all up.
It would be really nice if fairy tale endings happened to actual people. People who live around me. It would surely help me stay an optimist.

Night time questions
Through pain and suffering we grow, but we do not want to get hurt or be hurting. Is personal growth the silver lining of break ups? And if so, is it enough to make us not regret that the relationship with somebody we loved has ended? How long are you allowed to grieve before you become pathetic? How do you move on? Yes, it would be nice to move on to someone else, but how to manage that when you do see less than few people worth falling for? And even if you did manage that - will you ever heal completely?

So many things are on my mind right now. How certain someone number 1 has not been an act of revenge or torture but how I genuinely loved him. How I am quite confused about my feelings right now. How I changed over past few months. And if that change was bound to happen or if it was caused by meeting certain someone number 2. How can you ever figure things out? Paradoxes in life are huge - you do not want to be in a relationship and you meet someone who does and when you want to be in a relationship you meet someone who does not. Damn.
