Whenever I buy a piece of clothes, some accessory, shoes or even a stupid shampoo, I am bound to part with it someday. But let´s not skip to the end of the story right away.
Some people are active in their pursuit of happiness. They search for the perfect bag/running shoe/toothbrush. They compare the available options and pick the most suitable one, buy it and take it home.
Other people rather wait for the thing to sort of come to them. When they go into a store, they have difficulty imagining that they would simply pick a bag because it fulfills certain criteria. That just cannot be enough. They need to form that connection to the new sweater or pair of shoes (however absurd it may sound to the first group), feel it before they buy it.
In the end I guess it does not matter that much, which group one belongs to. When you allow that thing to become a part of your life, sooner or later you develop an attachment. You get to like the amazing qualities and you learn to work around the imperfections. But one day - BAM! - and the thing becomes broken/empty/torn. You can try to prolong its life, you can try to mend it, but in the end you have to go to a store for a replacement.
But there is never the exact same thing available. You can find something similar, but it is never the original, the one. You might even start liking it just like you liked the first one. However you still kinda miss that perfect bag, that was just right for you. Over time you lose the hope for a miraculous repair that would make the thing work again. So you get yourself something shiny and new. And maybe it will be more than just a replacement. Right?
